Itinerary
Day 01.- Lima
Transfer to the Hotel. Welcome Dinner and party hosted by our guide.
Day 2.- Lima - Huancayo
9:00 am. We leave Lima and climb up to 4,800 meters to the Ticlio pass, burning 380 km of asphalt. In the pass, the road runs along the highest train track in the world. We drop to Huancayo and spend the night a bit further on, in the valley of Mantaro. Hotel.
Day 03.- Huancayo - Ayacucho
We try out our first dirt road at seven in the morning. This uncompleted stretch of highway was the subject of Mario Vargas Llosa´s Death in the Andes. He speculated that local Quechua Indians would blame the mountain gods for the floods and landslides that have constantly prevented the road´s completion… and would see human sacrifice as the way to appease the gods, complete the road, and realize the economic boom that transportation through here would bring. In the early afternoon we reach Ayacucho, whose lovely colonial churches occupy us until evening. Hotel. 4x4 Peru.
Day 04.- Ayacucho – Andahuaylas - Abancay

At 9:00 AM we take a bus to the long Sacred Valley of the Incas where we have guided visits to some of the most important Inca settlements, and sleep in Urubamba.
Day 07.- Urubamba - Machupicchu - Cusco
We go to the Ollantaytambo train depot in the Sacred Valley, board the train, and go to Machu Picchu. We will be guided around this most spectacular Incan site. In the afternoon we return by train to Cusco. Hotel.
Day 08.- Cusco - Puno
