Enjoy this 13 Day Package, traveling through the Highlands of the Southern Peruvian Andes. Discover the magical world of the Incas, by visiting the ancient capital city of the Incas; Cusco. We will also pass through The Sacred Valley, trek the famous Inca Trail to Machupicchu, visit Puno and the beautiful Lake Titicaca, Arequipa and Colca Canyon, the Amazing Nasca Lines and Paracas Islands, finishing the tour in Lima.
Itinerary
Day 01.- Lima
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we will have a city tour of colonial Lima, visiting the Cathedral, Pizarro's grave, San Francisco Catacombs, and pass through the Senate building and the Palace of Torre Tagle, return to hotel.
Day 02.- Lima - Paracas
Early morning departure by bus toward Nasca, we’ll visit the Ballestas Islands, Hotel in Paracas.
Day 03.- Paracas - Nasca - Arequipa
In the morning we’ll take our bus to Nasca. Once in Nasca we will fly over the mysterious Nasca Lines. The Nasca Lines are huge geometrical and animal figures that were etched into the desert floor in approximately 800 BC. The Lines may have astronomical significance, or they may be related to mountain worship. We will have the afternoon free, then at 21.30 pm. we will depart by bus for Arequipa.
Day 04.- Arequipa
Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Morning we will have free to relax, with a city tour in the afternoon, on which we will visit the Santa Catalina convent. The convent is without a doubt the gem of Arequipa, finally opened to the public in 1,970, after 400 years of seclusion. We will also visit the main square, la Compañía Cloister, and the suburbs of Cayma and Yanahuara with a magnificent view of "el Misti" Volcano. Hotel.
Day 05.- Arequipa - Colca Canyon
Departure by bus toward the Colca Canyon, passing over the Chachani volcano. During the trip we will pass by Pampa Cañahuas where it is common to see Vicuñas in this National Reserve. We will reach an altitude of 4,800 m (15,360 ft) where you can appreciate the natural lagoons and their flora and fauna, as well as rocky shapes like haunted castles. We will arrive in Chivay via the Colca Valley, Hotel.
Day 06.- Arequipa - Puno
Early in the morning a spectacular bus takes us to Puno up into the altiplano (high flatlands where you will see snow capped peaks and local farmers looking after their herds of llamas and alpacas. Once we arrive in Puno we will transfer to the hotel.
Day 07.- Uros - Taquile
In the morning, we have the Uros and Taquile Floating Islands tour, returning to Puno in the afternoon, hotel.
Day 08.- Sillustani Tombs - Juliaca- Cusco
Morning visit to Sillustani Tombs. In the afternoon we will depart by bus toward Cusco. Arrival and transfer to the Hotel.
Day 09.- Inca Trail Machupicchu "Km 82" - Huayllabamba
Early morning transfer to the head of the trail where we begin our trek, escorted by native Quechua porters. From Km. 82 we hike along the Vilcanota River, with magnificent views of Nevado Veronica: Campsite.
Day 10.- Climbing To Llulluchapampa
We climb through the magical polylepis forest to a high camp at Llulluchapampa 3,600 m (11,520 ft). Today is one of the most demanding days of the trip as we must climb to a high altitude. The first pass is at 4,200 m (13,400 ft.) and offers views of the Huayanay peak and the rugged Vilcabamba Range. We descend to our camp Runkurakay.
Day 11.- Sayaqmarca - Wiñaywayna
We cross the second pass at 4,000 m. or 12,800 ft. and follow a fine Inca highway to the restored town site of Sayaqmarca. We will descend rapidly from cloud forest into a high jungle habitat. Orchids and hummingbirds are commonly seen along this spectacular section of the trail high above the river. The Inca Trail in this section is a white granite path passing through a high temperate zone. Campsite will be in Wiñaywayna.
Day 12.- Wiñaywayna - Machupicchu - Cusco
After an early wake up we will emerge at the Gate of the Sun, for our first view of MACHUPICCHU from high above the city. Finally we will arrive at the mysterious ¨Lost City". In the afternoon, we return by train to Cusco. Hotel.
Day 13.- Cusco - Lima
Transfer to the airport for flight to Lima, Transfer to the hotel, in the afternoon, transfer again to the airport for our international flight back home.
