Itinerary
Day 01.- Arrive To Lima
Pick up upon arrival and transfer to the Hotel, located in Miraflores, Lima. (no meals)
Day 02.- Lima City Tour & Pachacamac Ruins
In the morning, Lima city tour. You will be picked up from your hotel at 9AM and we will visit the colonial area and the Plaza de Armas where you will see the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop's Palace and the City Hall as well as the XVII century church and cloister of San Francisco, a world cultural heritage. Then we will visit the modern downtown with a view of the Pacific Ocean and the modern residential suburb of San Isidro. Near to Lima there is an archaeological enclosure whose constructions conserve the mysticism and religion of their past. The name of this archaeological site is Pachacamac. When visiting this sanctuary, where hundreds of years ago the natives worshipped the sun and to the Earth, one can feel the magic attraction of a place that will always be sacred. Finally, transfer to the hotel. Overnight. (B,L)
Day 03.- Lima - Paracas
You will be picked up from your hotel in Lima AT 5:00AM, transferred to the bus station, and you'll take a bus to Pisco ( 3 hours ). Then transfer to the town of "El Chaco" from where you'll take a motorboat excursion to the Ballestas Islands. Lunch will be at a typical restaurant (not included). In the afternoon there will be an excursion to Paracas for about 4 hours. Paracas is one of the best marine reserves, with the highest concentration of marine birds. At 5:00 pm departure to Nasca by bus (the best one), arrive and stay at a Hotel (B)
Day 04.- Ballestas Islands
Early morning (7:30am) you will transfer to the dock where you will take a motorboat excursion to the Ballestas islands. Acknowledged as the “Galapagos of Peru” the Ballestas Islands are a spectacular habitat for many different species of seabirds, sea lions and many other birds and animals. On the way back to Nazca we will visit the Chauchilla cemetery, where we can appreciate mummies, pottery fragments over the desert. Overnight. (B)
Day 05.- Nasca Lines
You will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the little airport from where you'll take a flight over the famous Nazca lines. Cut into the stony desert are large number of lines, not only parallels and geometrical figures, but also designs such as a dog, an enormous monkey, a spider and a tree. The lines, that represent some sort of vast astronomical pre-Inca calendar, are best seen from the air, we will take a half hour flight above the Lines (included). At 1:30 pm you will take the motor coach Royal class to Lima where you will arrive around 7:30 pm. Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel. Overnight. (B)
Day 06.- Cusco
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to take flight to Cusco (ticket included). Upon arrival reception and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the morning you have at leisure to allow your body acclimatize to the altitude, some people suffer headaches - we have pills to help with the altitude. Overnight. (B)
Day 07.- Cusco City Tour
You will be picked up from your Hotel at 1:00 pm for a Cusco city tour. This tour includes the major sites of historical interest in Cusco, such as the famous Inca fort at Sacsayhuaman, and the Temple of the Sun. Also included in this is a tourist card, giving you access to all the sites in the Cuzco area as a whole (i.e., including outside of the city itself) this tour finishes at 18:30 approx. Overnight. (B)
Day 08.- Cusco - Sacred Valley Tour
This tour is available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays only. After breakfast you will be picked up (at 8:45 am). Full day excursion to the Urubamba Valley visiting: the village of Pisac and its lndian market. Lunch is included. In the afternoon you'll visit to the fortress of Ollantaytambo, an architectural group that was a gigantic agricultural, administrative, social, religious and military complex in the days of the Tahuantinsuyo Empire. Lastly you will visit the Chinchero market, and return to Cusco at 6:30pm. Overnight. (B,L)
Day 09.- Cusco - Machu Picchu
All day excursion by alpine train to Machu Picchu. At 5:30 am you will be taken from the Hotel to the train station, the train leaves at 6:00 am. Travel is in "Vistadome" Class (formerly "Autowagon"). At 9:40am, you will arrive at the Aguas Calientes Station, from where you take a 25 minute bus ride to the ruins of Machu Picchu. When you get there, you will have a guided tour, with an English speaking professional guide. The ruins are on the eastern slope of Machu Picchu in two separate areas: the agricultural and the urban. Lunch at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge (included). Overnight at the hotel. (B,L)
Day 10.- Machu Picchu - Cusco
Morning at leisure to explore the area on your own (entrance fee and transportation not included). In the afternoon you will take the train back to Cuzco. Upon arrival in Cuzco, transfer to the hotel. Overnight. (B)
Day 11.- Cusco - Lima
In the morning, transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima (airfare included), in time to catch your international flight connections. (B)
