Itinerary
Day 01.- Lima - Trujillo
LIMA / TRUJILLO Transfers to Lima airport. Upon arrival in Trujillo transfer to Hotel, overnight accommodations. (A)
Day 02.- Trujillo - Huanchaco - Chan Chan - Trujillo
TRUJILLO Tour of the city. We will see the Plaza de Armas and the Cathedral, and visit the Casinelli Museum houses where you will find unique samples of pre-inca pottery which were excavated in the area. Then to Huanchaco beach for lunch. In the afternoon we will visit the citadel of Chan-Chan; the ancient capital of the Chimu Empire and the largest adobe city in the world. Overnight accommodations. Day 03.- Trujillo - Chiclayo - Lima
Drive to Chiclayo. We will visit the archaeological museum for an introduction to the history of the Lambaste Area. Lunch will be at a country-side restaurant. Later, we will visit the magnificent necropolis of Huaca Rajada, including the tombs of the "Lord of Sipan" and the "Old Lord of Sipan". Transfer to Chiclayo airport. Upon arrival in Lima, transfer to Hotel. Overnight accommodations. (B/A/AB/L)
Day 04.- Arequipa - Colca Valley
Transfer to airport. Upon arrival in Arequipa, transfer to hotel. We will have a tour of this city, which is also known as "The White City ". During the tour we will visit the Santa Catalina Convent, Plaza de Armas, La Compañía cloisters and the districts of Yanahuara and Chilina, which have a magnificent view of the volcano Misti. Day 05.- Arequipa - Colca Valley
Drive to Colca Valley, passing through Pampa Canahuas at the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, a protected habitat for vicuñas. The valley has beautiful Pre-Colombian terraces which are still farmed by native Collaguas. Box Lunch. Overnight accommodations. (B/AB/L/D)
Day 06.- Colca Valley - Arequipa
Early departure to the "Condor's Cross" observation point, from where you should see the amazing Andean Condors. Enjoy an impressive view of the Colca Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world. Early afternoon return to Arequipa. Overnight accommodations. (B/CB/L
Day 07.- Arequipa - Puno
Morning at leisure to enjoy the city. Shopping for Alpaca (llama relatives) clothing and textiles is highly recommended. At mid-day we will transfer to the airport. Upon arrival in Puno, transfer to Hotel. Overnight accommodations. (A/AB)
Day 08.- Puno - Lake Titicaca - Puno
Motor-boat ride on Lake Titicaca to the unique floating Islands of the Uros. This "Water Tribe" has relied for hundreds of years on the Totora reed to build their villages, homes and boats. We will have an afternoon visit to the "Chullpas" of Sillustani, where the ancient Aymaras used to bury their high priests in cylinder-shaped tombs. Overnight accommodations. (MB/BB)
Day 09.- Puno - Cusco
Transfer to Puno train station. This unforgettable train journey to Cusco is through the marvelous landscapes of the Andean highlands, which are spotted only by little villages and herds of llamas and alpacas. Evening arrival in Cusco and transfer to Hotel. Overnight accommodations. (T/BB)
Day 10.- Cusco
Afternoon City tour includes Plaza del Regocijo. Plaza de Armas, Cathedral, Santo Domingo Monastery the legendary Koricancha and the Old Town. We will drive out of the city to visit the Inca sites of Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and the fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cusco. Overnight accommodations. (BB)
Day 11.- Cusco
At your leisure to explore this most magical city, capital of the Inca Empire. Visit the colonial churches and mansions built on Inca foundations, beautiful plazas and artisan workshops in the San Blas District where you can appreciate the local craftsmanship of precious metals, wool, wood and stone. Day 12.- Cusco - Urubamba Valley - Cusco
Bus to the "Sacred Valley of Incas ". Visit Ollantaytambo, the Inca fortress and walk through the quaint streets of the nearby town. Lunch will feature typical Andean dishes, and then a drive through the valley with an opportunity to shop at the typical market in Pisac. Overnight accommodations. (B/BB/L)
Day 13.- Urubamba Valley- Machu Picchu
Transfer to Ollanta train station, and take the Rail coach service to Machu Picchu, "The Lost City of the Incas”. There will be a guided tour of the marvelous citadel, visiting the main plaza, the royal quarters, the Temple of Three Windows, the circular tower, the sacred Sun Dial and burial grounds. Day 14.- Machu Picchu- Cusco
An early rise is suggested to admire Machu-Picchu at sunrise; a truly mystical experience. For the hiking enthusiast, going up the Huayna Picchu peak overlooking the site or walking on the original Inca trail is highly recommended. Afternoon rail coach service to Cusco. Day 15.- Cusco - Puerto Maldonado - Tambopata
Transfer to Cusco airport. Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, transfer by motor-boat to the jungle lodge in the Tambopata Candamo Reserved Zone. This area of the Amazon Rainforest is one of the most biologically diverse regions on earth. You will sleep in either the Sandoval Lake Lodge or the Posada Amazonas Lodge. (T/BB/L)
Day 16.- Tambopata
Early morning and late afternoon explorations of the rich flora and fauna, including over 20,000 plants species, 900 species of birds, 91 mammals, 1230 butterflies, 127 amphibians and reptiles, as well as the Giant Otter, the Black Caiman, and 6 species of monkeys. Lodging will be in either the Sandoval Lake Lodge or Posada Amazonas Lodge. (MB/CB/L/D)
Day 17.- Tambopata - Puerto Maldonado - Lima - Ica
Motor-boat from the Lodge in Tambopata to the pier in Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport. Upon arrival in Lima, we will transfer to the bus station for motor coach service to Ica, the wine and pisco capital of Peru. Overnight accommodations. (MB/A/B/CB))
Day 18.- Ica - Paracas - Nazca - Ica
We will drive to the Paracas Wildlife Reserve for a boat ride to the Ballestas Islands which are inhabited by boobies, pelicans, sea lions and penguins. In the afternoon there will be a 45-minute flight over the mysterious Nasca Lines and a visit to the Ica Archaeological Museum. Overnight accommodations. (MB/A/B/CB)
Day 19.- Ica - Lima
Morning at leisure to relax by the pool and enjoy the oasis resort. Mid-day you will return to Lima by motor coach and transfer from bus station to the airport or your hotel. (B/CB)
